The Water Quality Control Board is one of the nine statewide regional boards tasked to enforce the California Porter Cologne Water Quality Control Act.

Each regional board has delegated its authority to regulate onsite waste water disposal systems to Sonoma County PRMD Well and Septic Division.

The parent organization is the California Water Resources Control Board located in Sacramento.
