European Grapevine Moth (EGVM)Grape Growers (commercial) / Haulers / WineriesEuropean Grapevine Moth Quarantine ~ 2012 ProgramThe Sonoma County Agricultural Commissioner’s Office is committed to working with the agricultural community to eradicate European Grapevine Moth (EGVM) and put an end to the quarantine in Sonoma County. Sonoma County personnel will continue to survey for the presence of European Grapevine Moth by placing and servicing approximately 7000 traps from February through October of this year. County staff will also be conducting inspections during the harvest to ensure that quarantine regulations are being implemented and followed to stop the spread of EGVM. Additionally, we are asking grape growers and residents with grapevines on their properties, who are within 500 meters (Maps – EGVM Quarantine) of an EGVM find, to take prescribed steps to eradicate European Grapevine Moth. Growers are asked to treat for the 1st and 2nd generations of EGVM. Residents are asked to either treat their grapes for EGVM or drop the fruit before harvest. See Treatment Protocols for Commercial Grapes for details. Compliance agreements are required in order to move grapes, nursery stock or green waste of host material, and equipment used in the growing, harvesting, hauling and processing of host material within or from, the EGVM quarantine area. Compliance agreements for growers, haulers and wineries, with exhibits dated prior to August 1, 2011, need to be updated. Please see Compliance Agreements for more details. Shipments of grapes leaving the EGVM quarantine area may need to be inspected. See Shipment of Wine Grapes Out of Sonoma County for more information. Please sign up for eSubscribe at www.sonoma-county.org/agcomm to receive notification of updates to this EGVM website. Additional EGVM information:
