Sonoma Wine Company has taken major steps to improve their energy and water usage. Their environmentally friendly practices have allowed the company to expand bottling production by 46%, while reducing their natural resource usage per case of wine.

  • Decreased wastewater generation per case 39% from 3.81 to 2.75 gallons
  • Decreased natural gas use per case 150% from .025 therms to .010 therms
  • Decreased electricity use per case 18% from .75 kWh to .637 kWh
  • Insulated wine and storage tanks to reduce energy load
  • Replaced metal halide lighting with high efficiency T-5 fluorescents
  • Installed steam sterilization resulting in daily average water saving of 1,700 gallons.
