Welcome to the Sonoma County Strategic Planning Web Site

On November 9, the Board of Supervisors approved an update to the County’s 2007 Strategic Plan. The Board recognized successes from that Plan, such as long-term planning for county facilities and criminal justice.

While the 2007 Plan focused on important, long-term issues facing the County, the recent update outlined a broader Strategic Plan that encompasses all Departments. Developed collaboratively by the Department Heads and County Administrator, the Strategic Plan now includes four components common to Strategic Plans, also outlined in the slide below:

1. A County-wide Vision
2. A County-wide Mission Statement
3. Key County Values
4. Four Focus Areas

The Department Heads are developing high-level outcomes and success measures for each Focus Area. These will provide the foundation for establishing budget priorities for FY 11-12.
